What is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)?

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is the fastest-growing sport in North America. It is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a variety of Martial Arts to be used in competition. Modern mixed martial arts competitions emerged in North America with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship 1993. Originally organized with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors of various arts were pitted against one another with minimal rules for safety. In the following decade, MMA promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport.

Cornwall MMA Year in Review

2010 was a fascinating year for MMA and especially Cornwall MMA. We had tremendous success with our classes. Every class went up in numbers and students are improving by leaps and bounds. Our competitive fighters also enjoyed some great success; participating in various promotions such as a few Hybrid Promotions in Gatineau, several GAMMAs in Montreal, FightQuest also in Montreal and Bring It On MMA at the Akwesasne Casino, to name a few. Our fighters represented us extremely well
